Synopsis

74 year old ‘Dakota’ Fred Hurt and his son Dustin mine the raging torrents of glacier-fed McKinley Creek using heated wet suits to dive beneath the freezing plunge pools and dredge for gold nuggets. The father son crew is under more pressure than ever as they take on ferocious weather and flash floods, hungry bears, falling boulders, and catastrophic equipment failures in their attempt to dredge up a life-changing jackpot of gold that could make them and their crew millionaires.

Their last season dredging for gold on McKinley Creek ended in disaster when a landslide sent a flash flood cascading through their mine site. Three months’ hard work was wiped out overnight, just days after they had their biggest gold haul of the season. Now the Dakota Boys are back in the Chilkat Mountains with a bigger crew and a brand new, more powerful, second dredge determined to claim the pile of gold they know lies on bedrock beneath the creek bed.

Dustin Hurt is the claim owner and hotheaded boss. His father, Fred – who turns 75 this year – is a legend still diving in the raging waters of the creek. Former Active Duty Marine Sgt. Carlos Minor joins them again, desperate to secure his share of the gold and a future for his family. The Texan brothers Wes and Paul Richardson will fabricate and maintain the equipment. Greenhorn Rich Webster and Arizona miner Casey Morgan have also put their lives on hold this season to join the Dakota boys in their hunt for millions in gold.
